Breeding and seed production of sunflower in Bulgaria

In this outline of recent Bulgarian breeding work, much attention is paid to aspects of the use of cytoplasmic male sterility in breeding hybrid varieties and in hybrid seed production. Resistance breeding is also covered, with information on sources of resistance, such as Helianthus salicifolius, which is highly resistant to Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, and H. argophyllus, which is resistant to Phoma and Phomopsis.
