Breeding intensive-type sunflower hybrids in Moldavia

The hybrids MPK8401 and MPK8607 were bred. They exceeded Sunbred 254 by 14-17% in seed yield and 35% in oil yield. The Soviet hybrids Odesskii 91, Odesskii 97, Odesskii 103, Avant, MPK8210 and MPK8506 and varieties Oktyabr' and Yubileinyi, together with the foreign hybrids Romsun 53 and Sorem 80, were the best for resistance to new races of the broomrape Orobanche cumana.
