Breeding value tests: sheep

In 1987, 169 German Mutton Merino progeny (6-8 ram lambs per group) were fattened at a test station from 22 kg to slaughter at <more or =>43 kg. Age at the onset of the test averaged 55.3+or-7.4 days, duration of fattening 64.8+or-8.4 days, daily gain on test 371.2+or-43.7 g, and starch units consumed/kg gain 2382+or-175.
