Brief review of marine coatings, in particular laminates and their coatings for pleasure boats

Brief review of marine coatings, in particular laminates and their coatings for pleasure boats

Pitture e Vernici 64(10): 27-32

Properties required of, and resins for, marine coatings for the different areas of conventional steel ships (hull, stern, boot-top, above deck, etc.) to protect against corrosion and fouling are summarized, with examples of US specifications and usage. Resins for the manufacture of glass fibre-reinforced plastics boats, and for gel coats are then discussed, together with antifouling paints used on such craft.
