The length of the C-5 alkyl side chain was found to be important for the antifungal activity of these derivatives. The most active analogue had a 6-carbon side chain and demonstrated excellent activity against Trichophyton sp., Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum sp. and Candida sp. An analogue with a 10-carbon side chain and a benzyl-substituted derivative had potent activity against C. stellatoidea.
