On the basis of many years' study of the world collection of the Vavilov Institute of Plant Industry (VIR), a revised taxonomic system is proposed in which section Cephalocitrus is divided into 2 species, C. grandis and C. paradisi, with the former consisting of 10 botanical varieties. A key for identifying these varieties is given. A Latin diagnosis is presented for the new variety brunneorugosa.
