Clover weevils (Apion spp.) occurring in plantations of red clover (Trifolium pratense L.), white clover (T. repens L.) and alsike clover (T. hybridum L.) in south-eastern Poland

Roczniki Nauk Rolniczych, E Ochrona Roslin 16(1): 17-100

On the basis of extensive studies in south-eastern Poland in 1978-85, details are given of the occurrence, biology and control of Apion spp. on white clover (Trifolium repens), red clover (T. pratense) and alsike clover (T. hybridum). The dominant species was A. virens, followed by A. apricans on red clover and A. flavipes on white and alsike clovers. A. seniculus was also fairly abundant in the region on all 3 clovers. The greatest damage was caused by larvae of A. virens.
