Comparison between two oestrus synchronization treatments in recipient heifers with cloprostenol (synthetic analogue of prostaglandin F2 alpha )

Two methods were compared for obtaining the best possible synchronization of oestrus between actively cycling donor and recipient heifers for the purpose of embryo transplantation: (1) a single dose of 500 micro g (in 2 ml) of cloprostenol after rectal diagnosis of a corpus luteum in the mid-luteal phase (8-14 days); (2) two doses of cloprostenol, with an interval of 11 days between doses in the absence of a previous diagnosis of a corpus luteum.
