Comparison of four methods of tapping Benguet pine (Pinus kesiya Royle ex Gordon) for oleoresin production in Benguet

Comparison of four methods of tapping Benguet pine (Pinus kesiya Royle ex Gordon) for oleoresin production in Benguet

Sylvatrop 9(1-2): 55-64

Mean bi-weekly oleoresin yield varied significantly among some methods of tapping and diameter classes of Benguet pine in a second-growth forest at Bobok, Benguet, Philippines. Interactions were clearly evident between tapping methods and diameter classes. Standard bark chipping was the best method because it produced significantly higher mean bi-weekly oleoresin yield than standard sapwood chipping, intensive bark chipping, or intensive sapwood chipping.
