Concentrations of elements in annual rings of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) from Arendal, in southern Norway

Concentrations of elements in annual rings of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) from Arendal, in southern Norway

Meddelelser fra Norsk Institutt for Skogforskning 40(10): 8

Data from annual rings of one tree of each species covering the period 1890-1986 are presented. No variations in element concn. in annual rings could be attributed to changes in the chemical environment due to increased acid rain. Ba, Ca, Mg, Mn, Sr and Zn concn. generally decrease from old to young wood.
