Copper and iron deficiency symptoms in coconut on peat soils in Indonesia

Copper and iron deficiency symptoms in coconut on peat soils in Indonesia

Oleagineux 43(12): 455-457

The symptoms are described and illustrated. Cu deficiency causes bending of the rachis of the youngest leaves, with yellowing and desiccation of the leaf tip while the middle part remains green. If no copper sulphate is applied at planting, Cu deficiency occurs at 8-10 months, the Cu content of the fourth leaf being approx. 2 p.p.m. Fe deficiency is shown by gradual yellowing of the entire leaflet in longitudinal strips parallel to the veins.
