Cultivar variation in storability of soybean seed under a lowland humid environment in Sri Lanka

Seeds of 85 field-grown soyabean cultivars were stored in paper bags on open shelves in ambient conditions (max. temp. 26-36 degrees C, min temp. 18-26 degrees C and mean RH of 76.2 +or- 5.9%) for 9 months at Maha Illuppallama, Sri Lanka. Seeds were germinated and vigour and viability were evaluated at 3-month intervals. Seed viability and vigour declined slowly during the first 3 months storage and declined rapidly thereafter.
