Cultivation for advancing maturity of rice cultivar Koshihikari in Nagasaki Prefecture



Report of the Kyushu Branch of the Crop Science Society of Japan ( 56): 21-24



In trials in 1983-84, 1986 and 1987, rice Koshihikari was transplanted on various dates from 4 to 30 April using young seedlings 20-29 d old or intermediate seedlings 31-37 d old. In most cases delay in transplanting increased yield. Transplanting younger seedlings delayed ear emergence and maturity, but the effect on yield was variable and small. Yields were higher in 1986 than in other years.
