The short article considers the economics of the production of three kinds of silkworm, tasar (Antheraea mylitta), muga (A. assamensis) and eri (Attacus ricini )) in India's East and North-eastern states India. Tasar rearing is undertaken on arjuna (Terminalia arjuna) and asan (T. tomentosa) plants. It is one of the main activities of the tribals of Bihar, and project centres giving credit have increased its dissemination among the rural poor.
