In irrigated trials 1984-86 in Uzbekistan with winter wheat Intensivnaya and winter barley Zaf'ar grown for seed production, the effects of 3 sowing dates (25 Sep., 15 Oct. and 5 Nov.), sowing rates in the range 2.0-5.0 million seeds/ha, 2 sowing methods (uniform rows 15 cm apart or paired rows 30 cm apart), 4 fertilizer rates (no fertilizer, PK at 90 + 60 kg alone and with 150 or 180 kg N/ha) on grain yields and sowing qualities of the resulting seeds were studied.
