Cultivation trials with Bromus inermis on peatbog grassland

In trials on a peatbog grassland in the Angermunde district in 1985-87, years differing in weather pattern, (a) B. inermis or (b) Dactylis glomerata were sown in Aug. or mixtures of (a) or (b) with Festuca pratensis were sown in Apr. and cut 2 or 3 times depending on sowing date. In monoculture (b) produced a closed stand by the end of the 1st growing season. Populations of (a) in monoculture were reduced by competition with Elymus repens and other grasses.
