Cultural practices in use of true seeds of potato and screening of tuber-forming Solanum species under hot climatic conditions

Cultural practices in use of true seeds of potato and screening of tuber-forming Solanum species under hot climatic conditions

HortScience 23(3, I): 500-504

True seed of 1488 entries representing 85 tuber-forming Solanum spp. (listed) were evaluated for performance under hot climatic conditions in 1984, and 404 entries representing the 13 most promising species were evaluated again in 1985. S. chacoense had the most entries with good ground cover (favouring tuberization) in both years. Certain entries of S. kurtzianum, S. commersonii, S. gourlayi, S. fendleri, S. microdontum and S. tuberosum also gave good to very good ground cover.
