Cultural sensitivity in nutrition education for the prevention and management of diabetes mellitus and coronary heart disease

The health impact of diabetes and coronary heart disease is significant for the Maori and Pacific Island populations in New Zealand. Extensive dietary change is required to meet the recommended dietary targets for prevention and management. Effective nutrition education involves communicating a culturally sensitive message.
