Culture of insect-parasitic, xylobiotic nematodes on myceto-bacterial media

Culture of insect-parasitic, xylobiotic nematodes on myceto-bacterial media

Acta Parasitologica Lituanica 22: 97-101

A medium composed of hyphomycetes (Ceratostomella) and bacteria, obtained from the galleries of xylophagous beetles, successfully supported the development of the free-living generations of ectoparasitic and endoparasitic nematodes of bark beetles (Ips, Orthotomicus, Hylobius and others). 19 species of nematodes were cultured. Predatory nematodes, e.g. Mikoletzkya gave only one generation in culture, unless other nematodes were present.
