Current approaches to vaccine preparation

Canadian Veterinary Journal 31(3): 181-189

The history of conventional vaccines, many of which have been instrumental in the control of infectious diseases of major economic importance, is described briefly. The fact that many current conventional vaccines are deficient in efficiency, potency or safety and that the conventional methodologies are a limitation to further vaccine development is discussed.
