Current methods of breeding higher plants for resistance to herbicides (a review)

Recent achievements in this field are reviewed under the following headings: in vitro selection; in situ selection; genetic transformation of plants; and protoplast and cytoplast fusion. The genetic basis and possible mechanisms of resistance are examined for the most widespread herbicides.
