Current prospects in the evaluation of frost resistance by indirect methods

Evaluation methods are arranged according to the chemical markers of frost tolerance used; these include water, sugars, free amino acids, proteins, membrane associated lipids and growth regulators, especially ethylene. The possible use of polyamines, calcium and phytochrome (in its active form F730) is briefly discussed.
