Current situation with regard to the biology and control of cucumber downy mildew

An outline is given of recent developments in the system for forecasting outbreaks of Pseudoperonospora cubensis in Austria and of newly available fungicides which require only a 3 or 4 d waiting period between application and harvest. Results of 2 fungicide trials are given. Mistakes made in Austria in forecasting and control of the disease in 1989 are commented upon.
