Current status, advantages and potential applications of embryo transfer in relation to animal production and/or species preservation in Eastern Europe and the USSR

Current status, advantages and potential applications of embryo transfer in relation to animal production and/or species preservation in Eastern Europe and the USSR

International Embryo Movement Proceedings of a symposium, Montreal, 1987: 97-101

During 1986, 6200 embryo transfers in cattle were carried out in Czechoslovakia. Pregnancy rate averaged 60%. Currently 15-20% of young bulls originate from embryo transfer. In the German Democratic Republic, a pregnancy rate of 53-58% was achieved in 1986 following transfer of 1400 embryos obtained by superovulating 450 cows.
