Ten cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis were seen at a clinic in Warsaw, Poland, between 1977 and 1987. Nine men had acquired the infection in Iraq and were admitted to hospital within 2-8 months of first appearence of symptoms; one women had acquired the infection in southern Italy and was correctly diagnosed only after 15 years of unsuccessful, non-specific treatment.
