Cutaneous nocardiosis associated with haemolytic anaemia and generalized ringworm - a case report and taxonomic comments on the isolated Nocardia asteroides

Cutaneous nocardiosis associated with haemolytic anaemia and generalized ringworm - a case report and taxonomic comments on the isolated Nocardia asteroides

Japanese Journal of Medical Mycology 29(4): 299-307

A case is reported in a 54-yr-old man who noticed a subcutaneous nodule on his right thigh without any history of trauma. He had been treated with oral administration of corticosteroid for haemolytic anaemia and topical antifungal ointment for generalized ringworm. Physical examination revealed a 67 x 54 mm, firm, subcutaneous nodule on the inner part of the right thigh and many scaled erythemas with or without infiltration on the trunk and extremities.
