Cygro (maduramicin ammonium) - a new polyether ionophore coccidiostat

Zeszyty Naukowe Akademii Rolniczej we Wrocawiu, Weterynaria 45(173): 67-73

Cygro is a potent anticoccidial ionophore antibiotic produced from Actinomadura yumaensis. The compound given in feed at 5 ppm had no adverse side-effects and proved 12-25 times more effective than other ionophores against Eimeria tenella, E. acervulina, E. maxima, and E. mivati. Cygro showed the best results in terms of feed intake, feed utilisation, body weight gain, and the lowest index of pathological changes and oocyst production.
