Determination of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) concentrations in raw, pasteurized and heat-treated milk

Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) is a natural component of human and bovine milk. To determine its concn. in processed milk, IGF-1 was assayed in raw milk, pasteurized milk and in milk heated under conditions similar to those used in the preparation of a commercial infant formula. IGF-1 content was measured in an acid-ethanol extract of milk by radioimmunoassay, after the procedure was validated for the different test samples.
