The body water content of 12 calves was determined 12 times between 5 and 31 days of age, using the antipyrine and Evan's blue methods. Statistical evaluation of the results indicated a significant increase in the total body water (TBW) expressed in litres; this was attributed mainly to the increase in the intracellular fluid. The TBW calculated per unit of mass (ml/kg) showed a statistically significant reduction, attributed to the relative decrease in the extracellular fluid.
