Effect of atrazine and tillage on alfalfa (Medicago sativa) establishment in corn (Zea mays)-alfalfa rotation

The effect of atrazine rate and subsequent tillage on seedling alfalfa (M. sativa) Big 20 injury from atrazine carry-over was examined at 2 locations in Michigan, USA. Atrazine concn and M. sativa injury 1 year after treatment were greater in the northern location than in the central Michigan location. At both locations M. sativa injury was significantly greater under no-tillage than moldboard ploughing.
