Effect of graded dietary Ca:P ratios on growth and feed efficiency of weanling pigs

Effect of graded dietary Ca:P ratios on growth and feed efficiency of weanling pigs

Zuchtungskunde 60(2): 143-154

Two randomized block experiments of 47 and 42 days, respectively, used 48 weaned pigs each to study the effect of graded dietary calcium to phosphorus ratios on growth and feed efficiency. In experiment 1, Ca:P ratios of 0.8, 1.6, 2.4 and 3.2:1 at a constant level of about 0.7% P in the air-dry feed resulted in a linear decrease in daily gain from 392, 362, 349 to 313 g, and in a linear increase in feed efficiency (kg total feed/kg gain) from 1.73, 1.79, 1.84 to 1.94.
