Effect of granular systemic insecticides on soil micro-organisms when applied to control sucking pests on cotton H-4

The effects of granular systemic insecticides (phorate, disulfoton, aldicarb and carbofuran all at 1, 1.5 and 2 kg a.i./ha) applied for control of sucking pests of cotton on soil microorganisms were studied in the laboratory and field in India. In the initial period following insecticide application populations of bacteria and fungi were suppressed, but at harvest the population of microorganisms had increased over that in untreated variants.
