Effect of maize as a preceding crop on the yield and quality of winter wheat and spring barley in a crop rotation with a high proportion of cereals

Effect of maize as a preceding crop on the yield and quality of winter wheat and spring barley in a crop rotation with a high proportion of cereals

Rostlinna Vyroba 35(2): 153-160

In field trials in 1974-86 in the beet production region at Kromeriz, winter wheat and spring barley were grown in cereal rotations. Av. yields of winter wheat were 6.66, 6.96-7.18 and 6.53 t/ha after silage maize, barley and winter wheat, resp. Av. yields of spring barley were 6.50 t/ha after silage maize and 6.32 t after wheat. Spring barley for feed but not for malting was considered a better crop to grow after silage maize than winter wheat.
