In plot trials with a wheat/maize rotation, the effects of applying irrigation with saline waters (0.5, 2, 4, 6, 8 or 16 dS/m) to wheat for 10 years on grain yields and soil properties were studied. Effects of the residual salinity on grain yields of rainfed maize were investigated. Irrigation with saline water increased soil salinity and alkalinity (ESP) and decreased yields of both crops.
