In a field experiment in 1983-84 at Aski-Kalak sunflowers were sown in hills 15, 30 or 45 cm apart and given 0, 60 or 120 kg N/ha. The highest oil yield resulted from a hill spacing of 30 cm and the lowest from a hill spacing of 15 cm in 1984 only. 120 kg N gave the highest oil yield in both years. Increasing N rate increased seed wt/capitulum in 1984.
