Effects of HCG stimulation in cattle with a cystic or compact corpus luteum: progesterone profile, ovulation induction and information of a second corpus luteum

Effects of HCG stimulation in cattle with a cystic or compact corpus luteum: progesterone profile, ovulation induction and information of a second corpus luteum

Tierarztliche Umschau 43(7): 430...439

A single injection of 10 000, 5000, 1000 or 100 IU of HCG was given intravenously to heifers with a cystic corpus luteum and to heifers with a non-cystic corpus luteum on day 8 of the oestrous cycle to evaluate the progesterone secreting function of cystic corpora lutea. Within 60 minutes after treatment plasma progesterone concentrations were stimulated more in heifers with cystic corpora lutea than in heifers with non-cystic corpora lutea.
