, : Effects of sodium hydroxide treatment and soyabean meal supplementation on digestion and utilization of rice straw by sheep. Japanese Journal of Zootechnical Science 60(1): 40-45

Three Suffolk crossbred wethers, body weight 80 kg, were fed on rice straw alone or with soyabean meal 100, 200 or 300 g/sheep daily. The wethers were also given rice straw treated with NaOH without or with supplementary soyabean meal 200 g daily. Soyabean meal supplementation increased the digestibility of rice straw DM, organic matter, crude protein, cell wall constituents and acid detergent fibre.
