Effects of some environmental factors on milk yield in goats

, : Effects of some environmental factors on milk yield in goats. Kleinviehzuchter 38(2): 67-74

Milk recording data on 3128 Chamois Coloured (CC) goats with a standardised lactation length of 180 days, and 5094, 5011 and 4893 Saanen goats with standardised lactation lengths of 160, 180 and 200 days resp., were analysed. Milk yield was significantly affected by age of goat (increasing with increasing age up to 3 yr in both breeds) and season of kidding (highest for CC goats kidding in Feb.-Mar. and Saanen goats kidding in Mar.-Apr.).
