Effects of sowing date and plant population per hill on faba bean (Vicia faba) yield

, : Effects of sowing date and plant population per hill on faba bean (Vicia faba) yield. FABIS Newsletter, Faba Bean Information Service, ICARDA ( 23): 15-19

In field trials in 1982 and 1983 at Shambat, Sudan, V. faba BF 2/2 seeds were sown on 20 Oct., 30 Oct. and 10 Nov. to give densities of 16.6, 33.3 and 49.9 plants/msuperscript 2 (1, 2 or 3 seeds/hill, resp.). In both seasons, seed yield was greatest from sowing on 30 Oct. (2.97 and 2.34 t/ha in 1982 and 1983, resp.).
