Effects of subterranean clover interseeding on grain yield, yield components and nitrogen of soft red winter wheat

In a field experiment in 1983-85 on a Saurtown fine sandy loam in Rusk County, Trifolium subterraneum Nangeela, Mt. Barker, Woogenellup and Nungarin were intersown separately with wheat Coker 762. Intersowing decreased grain yields in 1983 irrespective of T. subterraneum cultivar. However, in 1984 all cultivars increased wheat grain yields probably due to symbiotic N fixation in the previous year. Grain yields were 84, 112, 233 and 283% higher with Nungarin, Woogenellup, Mt.
