Effects of the administration of Parevert and calcium gluconate infusion on the blood concentrations of ionized calcium and other minerals in healthy cows and cows with parturient paresis

, : Effects of the administration of Parevert and calcium gluconate infusion on the blood concentrations of ionized calcium and other minerals in healthy cows and cows with parturient paresis. Monatshefte fur Veterinarmedizin 44(23): 830-835

Six non-pregnant cows in late lactation were given an i.v.injection of 500 ml (7.32 g Ca) of Parevert (a preparation containing calcium and magnesium chloride). Six received 340 ml (7.29 g Ca) of calcium gluconate i.v., and six the same amount of calcium gluconate but half i.v. and half s.c.; they showed approximately the same total calcium concentration in 8 blood samples collected within 12 hours.
