Effects of thinning method and nitrogen fertilization on the growth of Scots pine and Norway spruce stands

Folia Forestalia ( 731): 20 pp.
Effects of thinning method and nitrogen fertilization on the growth of Scots pine and Norway spruce stands
Results are reported from trials of three thinning methods (from below, from above and selection) with or without fertilizer treatment (either ammonium nitrate + lime (180 kg/ha N) or urea + superphosphate (232 kg/ha N)) on middle-aged (52-71 yr old) stands of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) on dryish sites and Norway spruce (Picea abies) on grove sites in S. Finland. All thinning treatments left the same stand b.a.
