Effects of various inputs on yield of urd bean and its residual effects on succeeding fodder sorghum

Investigations were carried out during spring and rainy seasons of 1984 and 1985 to study the effects of Rhizobium inoculation, phosphorus application @40 kg P2O5/ha and application of nitrogen @ 20 Kg N/ha at different time and method on urd bean and its residual effects on a succeeding fodder sorghum. The urdbean responded well for phosphorus which increased yield by 40.71% over no phosphorus followed by inoculating seeds with Rhizobium culture by 15.90% over uninoculated control. Similarly, nitrogen applied as a starter dose and top dressing of N at pre-flowering increased yield by 13.88 and 9.38%, respectively over their controls. A residual effect of a spring urdbean was more pronounced in treatment applied phosphorus to the crop followed by Rhizobium inoculation, starter nitrogen application and top dressing of nitrogen at pre-flowering stage which were at par with each other.
