Effects of various pretreatments of sesame seed on the oil yield and quality of sesame oil

, : Effects of various pretreatments of sesame seed on the oil yield and quality of sesame oil. Journal of the Chinese Agricultural Chemical Society 26(1): 50-62

Effects of various pretreatments of sesame seed, (i) no hulling, (ii) partial dehulling, (iii) dehulling, and (iv) double pressing, and particle size of sesame flakes (screen sizes 1.68, 1.19, 0.84 and 0.59 mm) on oil yield and quality were studied. The smaller the particle size the higher was the oil yield. Oil yield of (ii) and (iv) with 30 mesh ground particle size (0.59 mm) was 45.8 and 46.1%, respectively.
