Effects of water deficit and manganese toxicity on two cultivars of soyabeans (Glycine max (L.)) Merr.: possible applications in remote sensing

, : Effects of water deficit and manganese toxicity on two cultivars of soyabeans (Glycine max (L.)) Merr.: possible applications in remote sensing. Journal of Plant Nutrition 12(9): 995-1103

In greenhouse pot experiments using a soil known to produce Mn toxicity problems, soybeans Forrest (Mn sensitive) and Lee (Mn tolerant) were subjected to water stress by withholding known amounts of water for 12-24 h. As the untreated Loring soil produced Mn toxicity in Forrest but not in Lee, 200 micro g Mn (Forrest) or 60 micro g Mn (Lee) was added to the soil. The interaction between water and Mn stress on leaf temp. could not be distinguished because both stresses increased it.
