The egg of T. splendens is described with the aid of scanning electron micrographs. The outer chorionic cells contain uniform complements of tubercles over the entire surface of the egg, except for a very small area surrounding the micropyle. Each cell contains a single large tubercle of constant diameter (mean, 10.6 micro m) surrounded by 6-11 (mean,7.7) smaller tubercles of variable diameter (mean, 5.6 micro m; range, 2.1-9.3 micro m).
