Evaluation of cotton genotypes for tolerance to saline water irrigations

In a three years field experiments at Agricultural College, Bapatla (AP) [India], it was observed that the saline water reduced plant height, number of bolls/plant, seed cotton yield and staple length. Cotton [Gossypium hirsutum] cv. Sangam was significantly superior to other varieties in respect of seed cotton yield and was more tolerant to saline water irrigation at all the levels (4, 6 and 8 mmhos/cm) tested.
