Examinations on the optical recognition of single plants by way of example of topped sugarbeet



International Agrophysics 4(1-2): 57-67



Development of a non-contact sensory system, using properties of spectral reflectance, to control working depth of the lifting elements of a beet harvester is presented. Methods and instrumentation are discussed and algorithms and image processing techniques are described. Results of field and laboratory tests are considered. The spectral region most suitable for distinguishing the topped surface of the beet from other components of the growth space was around 650 nm.
