Excessive density of sugar beet stands

Scientia Agriculturae Bohemoslovaca 22(1): 23-31

The excessive density percentage of the stand is given by the proportion of the sum of plant distances smaller than the lower boundary of the range of fully utilizable distances. This indicator was defined in dependence on the emergence rate of the stand, seed-planting distance and minimum utilizable distance both in nonthinned stands planted at any plant distance in the row and in stands thinned for twofold seed-planting distances where there could be left nonthinned twin plants at the end parts of the row occupied by the plants. The equations to determine the percent occurrence of plants corresponding to the seed-planting distance were also derived.
