Exchanges of mineral elements and carbon compounds in in vitro culture: the case of banana



Fruits Paris 43(9): 485-490



Analysis of plantlets and culture medium during in vitro culture on MS medium showed that it was necessary to increase the levels of P and K in the medium. The mineral element contents of the plantlets varied with cultivar, and increased with increasing light intensity and daylength. Sucrose in the medium was hydrolysed to fructose and glucose during growth. Carbohydrate content varied with cultivar in the range 19-27% of dry matter.
